My Eyes Are Open.

It's funny how things happen in your life that make you stop and think. I
mean, what if you never had these moments? Would you even grasp life as
clearly?

Recently, I have been having a lot of trouble understanding why people
don't see things my way. And I say that in the least self-absorbed way that I
can. It isn't because I want them to be like me. In fact, I don't want anyone to
be just like me. I just have a hard time understanding other people's points of
view sometimes. How do you listen to someone talk about something and not agree
with anything that they said? And how do you respond?

I have always known that people haven't been raised the way I have been. I
have always known that my way of looking at things isn't everyone else's. But, I
have never truly grasped it. Never like I do now.

I have to feel so blessed that He is teaching me this now, this is when I
need it the most. I am going to be teaching children sooner than I think. I am
going to be a part of around 20 children's lives each year. And because they are
part of my life, that means their parents will be part of my life. And parents,
they don't raise their children alike. Each child has been brought up in a way
different perhaps, than the way I would want to raise my children.

I have to learn to try to understand these parents points of view. But,
what if they are wrong? How do you correct them? Do you correct them at all? I
have to think that you try.

I feel like this is something that is just going to take experience. It's
going to take time with me dealing with parents and their children. But, as for
now, I have decided I should practice this tactic. I should practice looking at
things from ALL perspectives. So that's what I am going to try to do. I'm going
to try to be as open minded as I can possibly be. I didn't say I'd agree with
anything that I see. But I will be working my hardest to become aware, aware of
others.

This sounds pretty easy huh? It's not. We are human, we are set in our
ways. I think by nature you just believe you are right and everyone else is
wrong. But who really says that someone HAS to be wrong? And who says that there
can only be ONE right? I think those are a few questions to ask when you are
debating your next argument with someone or perhaps judging someone or their
philosophy

U-N-T Eagles! Fight! Fight! Fight!

So I have been a North Texas Mean Grean Eagle since August and had yet to
do anything that showed school spirit in any way, shape, form, or fashion. It
wasn't that I didn't want to. I love getting involved! I just had been busy with
other things.

This weekend was family weekend and it was a blast! My mom came in to visit
me, my dad couldn't because his truck was getting worked on. But it was ok, I
enjoyed my mother/daughter time. On Friday night they had the Pep Rally at Clark
Park, I had a lot of fun. I mean who wouldn't have fun? There was free good, a
live band (Space Monkey), free t-shirts, free glowsticks (that's the thing on my
head making me look like a little angel eagle! lol), and of course none other
than Scrappy the Eagle himself was there! How can you turn down a shindig like
that?

On Saturday, we made it to Fouts Field around 2ish and had fun hitting up
all the stops around the field. There was face painting, giveaways, the 11th
annual chilli cook-off and the Beerman himself was there tailgating with
everyone. If you are from Denton, you know about the Beerman. :)

To top it off, the Mean Green won on Saturday!!! I was so excited to be at
my first UNT sporting event! I can't wait for the next one I can be
apart of. It just made me want to become more involved in this wonderful school!
I really am loving every minute that I am here! Go Eagles!

Princess Dandelion And Her Search For Her Polar Bear

I have a friend named Mitzi. She's crazy. And because she's nuts she
understands my craziness. Today I was thinking about her, scratch that, today I
was talking to her and I asked her what my next post should we about. After all,
she and I have so many beautiful tales of goofiness I figured she'd have a great
idea.

"Write a story about me!", she said. To most people you would think that
means to write about an event that happened in her life or our lives together. It
doesn't. I know her all to well. She wanted a story, a little fairy tale.
Believe me, as someone who has had to make up bedtime stories to put her to
sleep, I know she wants a REAL story. So here goes.....

Once upon a time (that's the way all great fairy tales start out), there
was a little princess. She was short and cute and full of spunk! She was so
spunky she skipped everywhere she went. She skipped to her car, she skipped to
her big girl job, she even skipped to the zoo (to see polar bears of course).
And on this particular day, that is exactly where little Princess Dandelion was
headed, to the zoo. The Dallas one to be exact, you know the one right off of
I-35E.

Princess Dandelion was on a mission today when she got to the zoo. She
intended to have tea time with the polar bear that had been adopted for her by
her bestest friend,
Princess Hydrangea (who, because of prior engagements to ride the ferris wheel all day at the
State Fair of Texas, could not join in on the tea party). That's ok Princess Dandelion
thought, she'd just have to make do without her number two.

Once she arrived she decided, first things first! She had to stop in the
gift shop and buy an overpriced stuffed turtle (jaws would need a friend), two
penguin figurines (everyone knows you can't just buy one penguin. why? because it's not two), and of course a fanny pack to put them in and also to hang her
over-sized, over-prized cup with a handle on the side of. She was ready!

Her adventure now started with going through the maze of flamingos. It was
tricky! It was overcrowded by the pond and the flamingos knocked her down! She
bumped her head and woke up seeing nothing but pink! She couldn't let this stop
her. She had a tea date with a polar bear, and no lady with class ever breaks a
tea time! She had to continue on her journey through the zoo.

Next she swam with the otters through the underwater mountains... then she
went on a quick safari with the giraffes and hippos. She was almost to the polar
bears she could feel it! Plus, there was a sign ahead that said, "You're almost
to the polar bears! Can you feel it?!"

But oh goodness, it seems that in her quest for polar bear tea time she got
a little bit dirty. She knew that ladies, especially princesses weren't allowed
to arrive in such a mess. She had to make a stop. Luckily, she was wearing her
lucky scrunchie and
with the click of her little mary janes she had changed into her favorite tea time
dress, it was cream with yellow flowers, strapless of course! ;) She put on her
hat and gloves and because she had been taught to never show up anywhere empty
handed, Princess Dandelion offered her polar bear friends something they
couldn't get in the zoo, Sprinkles cupcakes. They were pleased with her
contribution to tea time and asked her to stay, forever. So she did. She decided
to live in the zoo. With her new friends. Of course, some renovations were done,
princesses can't live in those conditions. So, after she had a mansion,
courtyard, tennis courts, and Starbucks built in the zoo, they all lived happily
ever after!

P.S. Princess Hydrangea finished her day of ferris wheeling and joined in on the fun!

I Am Having Blogging Withdrawls!

Hi friends,

I am itching to write about the last week of my life, especially this weekend! But thanks to homework, I am having to postpone my entries until I have a little more time.

This is what's in the works. The new posts coming up :)

- A wonderful tale of a princess named Mitzi! ha ha (wonder who that one's for)
- Family Weekend '07! Go MEAN GREEN!
- Failure.
- Understanding others points of view.
- and... something that has been on my mind a lot.. Greatness, and who achieves it.
(the last three might get rolled up into one.. )

Just a few things that cross my mind during the day!
I hope that everyone has a blessed Monday!

Too Optimistic You Say? Nah. ;)

Just a current thought in my mind........

Who am I? Well, I am overly optimistic, with a whopping heap of faith and a side of realism. Ha. That is how I might describe myself if someone asked me about my outlook on life and how I view it.

It's true I'm optimistic. I love finding the good in everything I can. I am so determined to reach down and pull something great out of something that most people find ridiculous. Of course, there are catches to this, some things are just bad, just wrong and there's no way around that.

I can imagine that to others it can get annoying. But it's who I am, normally they annoy my with there pessimism. So we are even :)

But I believe we take out of life what we want to take. I believe that each day is a lesson in life if YOU want it to be. I love that. I love that I can learn something everyday for the rest of my life. I love that it's never ending. How great is that?

It's Here! And It's Wonderful!

Photograph taken by Ms. Ashley Z! We love you Ash!
We call this one "Our Album Cover" lol

Walking along campus today I couldn't help but smile, it felt like Fall. I love this season. I have decided it beats out Spring. Some of you don't realize how big of a deal that is. I am an April baby so for me to choose Fall over Spring is like.. well, nuts. You would think I'd pick Spring I mean there's an actual day in Spring that is devoted to me. A day full of cake, presents, and parties. But nope Fall wins by a hair.

The other night in Uptown the girls and I were talking about pumpkin carving. What a fun activity to do. Everyone remembers carving pumpkins of their favorite cartoon character or what was supposed to look like their favorite cartoon character when they were kids. I've decided that there is absolutely no reason for such a fun-filled event to be taken away just because I am not 5.

I want to have a pumpkin carving party. (I think we talked about this the other night girls.) But I've decided it's a must. So I'm extending invites. If you think you are interested in carving the pumpkin of your dreams and then lighting his fire, please join us! Details of this Autumn event will be coming about soon. :)

Also, in Fall news... Halloween is just around the corner. That means it's time to make those costume selections. I need some suggestions for a costume this year, got any? Nothing revealing and inappropriate, I'm not in high school. Also nothing scary. I know it's Halloween but I just don't think scary costumes are very cute, go figure. So, e-mail or leave me a comment if you 1) want to be a part of the pumpkin carving, 2) want to be a part of the Halloween Extravaganza, 3) if you have any costume ideas.

Don't forget to enjoy this beautiful time of year. Try to spend as much time outside as possible, it really will brighten your day.
